Biography

A graduate of the Royal University of Fine Arts, Phnom Penh, Khvay Samnang (b. 1982, Svay Rieng, Cambodia) is compelled by the socio-political dilemmas of contemporary life, particularly concerning the lives of Cambodians – a society mired by governmental neglect, war atrocities, exploitation of land and agriculture, not to mention the rapid pace of economical change in a nation struggling to prove its independence. Khvay is an artist with a conscience whose practice encompasses photography, performance, video and installation. He currently lives and works in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
