‘Diary of a traveling city’ is an exhibition that responds to the lived knowing of ‘Sai Gon’. It is a series of artistic gestures — moving image, installation, photography and sculpture — conceptually grounded in an articulation of personal experience that is anchored in the contemporary reality of Vietnam. These stories, by four local Vietnamese artists, reflect particular perspectives of the character of this city, as a result of their own personal movements, whether they are stories of this city as hometown, or a contemplation of where they have come from and why they have come to be here.
This exhibition was realized as a result of Zoe Butt’s curatorial residency in Ho Chi Minh City, hosted by San Art, with the support of Asialink, Australia.
