The archive: As a concept/resource/form

Claire Hsu – Asia Art Archive, Hong Kong, Founder and Executive Director, talks about the crucial role of archiving in contemporary art history and art practices.

Asia Art Archive in a short period of time has become one of the most important art related projects in Asia.

Based in Hong Kong, AAA is a young and dynamic organization initiated in 2000 as a direct response to the increasing number of Asian contemporary art exhibitions and events worldwide. It is the first art education centre and library of its kind, with one of the most comprehensive collections of primary and secondary source material on contemporary Asian art in the world, with over 20,000 titles accessible to the public, free of charge, via its physical 4,000-square-foot space and searchable from its website.
