How to apply for ‘Encounter’ workshops

‘Encounter’ is a series of lectures and workshops that aims to stimulate creative activity in Vietnam, engaging different ideas of contemporary culture. ‘Encounter’ forms part of a larger endeavor called ‘Conscious Realities’ (2013-2016) focusing on the shared histories of South East Asia, South Asia, Latin America and Africa, engaging the divergent reactions to those histories and the lessons to be learned in thinking laterally across these communities.

Sàn Art is looking for 15 participants based in Vietnam (cross-disciplinary in interest), to take part in closed workshops with the following guest speakers.  As a participant you will be open and willing to take part in discussion. You may also be expected to undertake small tasks (eg. writing, drawing, presentation) that further investigate your own relationship to the expertise of each speaker. All lectures and workshops will be held in Ho Chi Minh City, and conducted in English and Vietnamese.

WHO CAN APPLY?

‘Encounter’ is open to all interdisciplinary thinkers (artists, architects, social scientists, writers etc) above the age of 23 who live and work in Vietnam and interested in examining the importance of culture to a global society. Ideally you will have familiarity with English, as the majority of guest lecturers will speak in this language (Vietnamese translation will however be provided). You must understand that attendance at all lectures and workshops between  November 2014 –  August 2015 is mandatory to the program.

Please refer to this page for all speakers’ bios and the latest schedule of events
