Biography

Josie Rae is an artist and art educator currently based in Vietnam. Her current work explores the hyperreal and the microscopic gaze. In Ho Chi Minh City, she documents amusement parks, expos, conventions and other curated leisure spaces in and around the city, through video and photographic work, as well as creating moving image work to accompany live and club performances. Earlier this year she undertook a residency in Hong Kong, tracking notions of excess and ‘insane abundance’ as governing principles in Mong Kok – the most densely populated area in the world – and how this is reflected in ecosystems both animate and inanimate.
