Due to the increase in government scrutiny of San Art's programs – 3 exhibitions not able to receive license and an artist talk given warning by the Cultural Police not to be hosted due to foreign attendance - the residency program ‘San Art Laboratory’ cannot continue under these difficult conditions at this time.
Bamboo Curtain Studio (Taiwan) and San Art have partnered up for another year in a residency exchange program. 2013 saw artist Lena Bui travel to Taiwan; this year, San Art Laboratory welcomes artist Chou Chien-Pang from Taiwan in Ho Chi Minh City for a 4-week residency in July.
The National Incentives Program of the Colombian Ministry of Culture has chosen to partner with San Art Laboratory in a 2-year artist-in-residency program. Two Colombian contemporary artists will be chosen from a national call across Colombia, to spend at least one month in Ho Chi Minh City in 2014 and 2015. This program understands that to enable artistic exchange via the creation of new work, there must be stimulated dialog between cultures and producers to expand the horizon of critical thinking.
