From January 2017, San Art will enter a new phase. We will explore a spaceless operation while maintaining the strategic facilitation between artists and the local/international art industry.
Between 3-6 November 2016, San Art sponsored an online moving-image exhibition called ‘Embedded South(s)’. Screening worldwide, it featured the work of 29 artists (short film, documentary and video art) from South Asia, South East Asia, Latin America and Africa.
Since 2009, Zoe Butt has taken the helm of directing, sustaining and curating Sàn Art. It is with great pride, and sadness, that we farewell her leadership of Sàn Art.
San Art would like to extend our warmest welcome to artist Ze Wei, our 2nd exchange artist from Bamboo Curtain Studio in Taiwan, to Ho Chi Minh City. Wei has continued the tradition of residency exchange between the two art spaces, and we are delighted that she will be here for a two-month residency from August to October.

Due to the increase in government scrutiny of San Art's programs – 3 exhibitions not able to receive license and an artist talk given warning by the Cultural Police not to be hosted due to foreign attendance - the residency program ‘San Art Laboratory’ cannot continue under these difficult conditions at this time.
