Sàn Art Laboratory: residency program discontinued

Due to the increase in government scrutiny of San Art's programs – 3 exhibitions not able to receive license and an artist talk given warning by the Cultural Police not to be hosted due to foreign attendance - the residency program ‘San Art Laboratory’ cannot continue under these difficult conditions at this time.

Sàn Art presents UuDam Tran Nguyen at Art Stage Singapore 2016

Titled ‘Seismograph: Sensing the City—Art In the Urban Age’, the Southeast Asia forum 2016 “… will explore the role of artists as seismographs of society’s pulses….” by featuring artists “… who delve into issues and sentiments relating to extremely rapid urbanisation and to the evolution of contemporary society in their own countries.”

New mural painting by Bùi Công Khánh in Sàn Art’s backyard

Despite the rainy season, our artist friend Bùi Công Khánh, with enthusiastic help from younger artists Nguyễn Văn Đủ and Nam Đy, has completed the new mural painting in Sàn Art's backyard. Come to visit us and enjoy the greenish garden with beautiful outdoor artworks!

Rewarding community artistic projects

Encounter speaker Marco Kusumawijaya has generously shared part of his honorarium to reward community artistic projects by several artists, activist and architects in Saigon. Each group received a small fund to initiate their new or existing community project to improve the people’s life through artistic/ cultural activities. These projects were chosen by Marco, from his Encounter workshop at San Art in June 2015. We would like to introduce the first two currently running projects, one by activist Nhung Đinh and the other by a group of architecture students from different universities...
