Called the “science of real life” by historians Carlo Ginzburg and Carlo Poni, “𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆” describes an approach to 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 that employs what we could think of as a 𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗰 𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘀, focusing on seemingly irrelevant details, habits and routines, and underlying mentalities. To our community,
2022 is a milestone for Sàn Art. It marks 15 years as a venue, convener, and laboratory for contemporary art in HCMC. Since our opening, we have produced 110+ exhibitions, projects such as the artist-residencies Sàn Art Laboratory (2012-2015) and Conscious Realities (2013-2016), as well as a number of publications and events, including conversations and workshops with writers, artists, thinkers and cultural workers.
