Truth, Self and Buddhocentrism

The second of his lecture series within ‘Encounter’, Thanes Wongyannava will continue to discuss his ideas concerning ‘Buddhocentrism’, which embraces the idea of Buddhism as a system of ideas in contemporary life that has moved away from a focus on ‘enlightenment’ towards a belief in all things ‘delightful’ – meaning a focus on anything that entertains, satiates desire and is popularly in demand. He will look at how visual art illustrates such attitude, including an examination of how we understand the ‘self’ and ‘truth’ within such society.

Thanes Wongyannava participates in ‘Encounter’, a lecture series which is part of a large artistic endeavour called ‘Conscious Realities’, initiated and organized by San Art in partnership with Prince Claus Fund.
