Sàn Art is pleased to collaborate with Đỗ Tường Linh and Mary David for a series of discursive studies in April 2018. In constructing a long-term program by the community of art practitioners to contribute to the local scene, the organizers propose here a starting point to examine and dissect theories and practices in art history/curating and exchange our knowledge as either artists, curators, critics or active members of the art scene in Vietnam or abroad. Specifically, we will look at Conceptualism, Perfomance, and Relational Aesthetics & Participatory Art, discussing their theoretical foundations and relevant applications in Vietnam.
The program spans over three afternoon sessions (Friday+Saturday 6+7, 13+14, 20+21 April), concluded with a LabMobile critic/discussion with artist Le Hien Minh on 24 April. It is facilitated by Đỗ Tường Linh, Mary David and Sàn Art Manager Trà Nguyễn, taking place at Sàn Art Reading Room, with English as the main language and translation assistance into Vietnamese if and when needed.
We now look for 10 participants of any disciplines to join the course. Selected participants shall be required to attend all sessions, actively read and discuss the assigned material, and deliver a short written text or a presentation at the end.
San Art will sponsor 50% participation fee for all selected candidates, bringing the final payable amount to VND750,000 per participant.
