Truong Cong Tung is a quiet and industrious thinker who is artistically compelled by the physical and psychological experience of space. This space is a mental state of mind while also a physical environment. Concerned with ‘space’ as a terrain governed by human ambition, be it dictated by government, family or an individual’s ego, this exhibition takes us on a journey that illustrates his deciphering of this duality....
Local artist Truong Cong Tung and Chinese artist, Jaffa Lam, discuss their respective artistic practices. Truong Cong Tung is based in Ho Chi Minh City and will share his process of book making and turning these into sculptures. Jaffa Lam is based in Hong Kong. Her projects engage ideas of history, social themes and cultural or urban issues, often through audience participation and collaboration with other craftsman (http://www.jaffalam.net). Jaffa Lam is the artist who designed the soft sculptures that hold the books of ‘Open Edit’....
Open Edit brings a selection of material from AAA’s collection to different cities in Asia, inviting people to read and interact with it in unconventional ways.
For this project, San Art has asked artists to artistically respond to the popular lyrics of a 1980s song called ‘Chi Toi’ (My Sister), by Trần Tiến.
This is Tammy Nguyen’s curatorial debut. Born in 1984 in San Francico, CA, Tammy received her BFA from the Cooper Union School of Art in New York City.
